Exports information from a Dynodex document to a text file that other applications can read. Dynodex can export all records or selected records in a file. The resulting export file can be either a tab- or comma-delimited text file.
You can control which fields are exported and the order that the fields are exported.
Export Data Dialog:
• Dynodex Fields: A scrollable list of all Dynodex fields plus "Full Name". Double-click to select whatever fields you want to export.
• Export Fields: A scrollable list of the fields you have selected for exporting. It remains empty until you select fields from the "Dynodex Fields" list and click “Add”. Double-clicking on a field also adds it. The order in which the fields are listed under "Export Fields" is the order in which the fields will be exported. Numbers preceding each field name indicate the export order. You can change the order of a field by selecting it and clicking on the up or down arrow. You can reposition multiple fields as a group by shift-clicking and then clicking on the up or down arrow.
• Arrows: Click on the up or down arrow to change the order of "Export Fields" (indicated by the numbers preceding each field name). When you change the export order for one field, all other prefix numbers automatically adjust to reflect the new order.
• Add: Click on the "Add" button to add the field(s) you have selected from the "Dynodex Fields" list to the "Export Fields" list.
• Help: Opens the Dynodex "Help" file where the topic "Export" is preselected for you. Clicking the Help button stops the export process and you must select "Export" from the File menu to begin the process again.
• Export: Initiates the export process. "Export" is not enabled until you have added fields to the "Export Fields" list.
• Select All: Selects every field (except "Full Name") from the "Dynodex Fields" list.
• Remove: Removes a selected field from the "Export Fields" list. Prefix numbers automatically adjust when fields are removed. You may also select a field and type the delete key to remove a field from the list.
• Add to Menu: Adds the current export settings to the "Frequent Exports" pop-up list. Limit is 128.
• Frequent Exports: Displays a list of the frequent export settings you have saved. This allows you to quickly export certain data according to export settings you frequently use. This listing is shared by both the Import and Export dialogs.
• Delimit by: Exports your data to a text file that is tab-delimited (fields separated by tabs) or comma-delimited (fields separated by commas), depending on which format your other applications can read.
• Selected Records Only: Limits Dynodex to exporting only the data from selected records. This option is available only when you have selected records. If you don't choose this, Dynodex will export every record in the file.
• Two Address Fields: Exports any two-line address that is separated by a line break to two separate fields in the export file. If you don't select this option, a two-line address will be exported as a single field with a semicolon (;) replacing any line break. If your address is more than 2 lines, choosing this option will export the first line to the first address field, and the rest of the address to the second address field.
• Include Field Names: Exports Dynodex field names ("Business", "First Name", etc.) with the export file. These are read as column headings in a spreadsheet or mail-merge application.
• Full Name: Combines the "First Name" and "Last Name" fields into one text string for exporting as a single field. When you select "Full Name", an explanation of it appears at the bottom of the dialog.
Note: To export just one record, you can choose Copy Record, which puts all the fields separated by tabs onto the clipboard.
